House Hunter Part 2

I had to post my YOP progress yesterday so I'm a little late on posting about the second story of the house like I promised.  So,  without further ado, here is the second story......... it has all new wiring and plumbing throughout and a fire alert system that if one goes off they all go off which is nice if you're sleeping especially!  Plenty of outlets and closets since it's all new wiring and they made closets as old houses were pretty scarce on those.
I absolutely adore slanted ceilings and these are so cool!
and a claw foot tub?  Be still my beating heart!

This will be my cardio!  I had 2 aunts that both lived in houses with stairs and they walked everywhere in that town and they both lived into their 90's and I am sure that is part of the reason.

 Glad for the railing though!

I'm thinking this might be my bedroom with a view to the farm......
 love............so much light too.....

great storage and closet space in one...waste not want not
 okay....I'm in love...what can I say?

That's all folks!  Wish me luck and say some prayers.  If it is meant to be it will all work out but if not I'm okay with that too.  I'm on my way North though and I know that for sure!
Happy Trails!

  1. Oh I like the Claw Foot Tub too! Nice upstairs very bright and clean. The floors need to redone too...those guys with the big sanders could do it in no time so the guys with the big stain and varnish brushes can make it just perfect! :)

    1. I have always wanted a claw foot tub and now at 66 years old I get one (did I tell you I did it again? I thought I was 67 this year and 66 all last year but FB says I'm 66 right now! Duh!)...probably not even safe but my son said he'll put bars somewhere so I can be safe getting in and out. Yes, the floors need some doing if there's any money left over or my son could do that too (don't tell him I said that)....cash flow might be a problem until this house sells. But I'll be there at least and I have "made do" many times in life. I'm just glad there is no carpeting!

  2. Have you sold your home? I think this home would be perfect for you.
It is just full of possibilities!

    1. No, I have not sold this home and may never as things are really slow here so I am taking the plunge, having an estate sale after I leave all the stuff I don't want to take with and then i twill go on the market but if it doesn't sell after a certain amount of time I will auction it off. At my age time waits for no woman and I need to cut my losses here. I agree...I love it!

  3. Sounds very promising. Lots of charm and character too!
I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you, trusting in the Lord that things will
work out for you, the way that they're meant to :)

    Warm wishes..

  4. Love this house...especially that tub! We had one in the first house we owned when we were first married. I've missed that tub ever since. I hope all goes well, and you get this home you want so much.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. Thank you, Betsy! I do too...I've had lots of signs that this is going to happen. One of those things that just dropped from the heavens...so to speak! LOL!

  5. I love the wainscoting in your bathroom. You have terrific space in this house and glad you went to see it in person to get a feel for it.

  6. I didn't go see it in person and I doubt I will. With my RA...one, one-way trip will be enough..last time it took me 12 hours and they had to pry my hands off the wheel! LOL! It's okay...I like to live dangerously....seriously though...I know the town and the people and it's my cousin's nephew so I'm taking a chance if the numbers all add up. I've had other assurances too from others. I'm already looking at wallpaper! LOL!

  7. Cute upstairs! Love the door to the stairs and your claw foot tub!
A little tip on floors. If the finish isn't too bad (especially upstairs) I just put three coats of shellac on them. And they look fabulous! I spent a little time scraping off paint splatters, but that was all. Old floors can look dry and dull, but a little shellac brings them back to life! The only reason I sanded down the living room was the pet stains.

    1. Thank you, Heide! Great advice as I don't want to have to spend any more money than I have to as there will be plenty of other expenses along the way. I have only refinished one floor that one was not sealed and uncovered under 2 layers of other flooring. I painted one little floor by a back door with floor paint and the rest I did like you said and cleaned them well, sometimes a little Old English Scratch Polish and a finish and they were good to go. I am starting to pack! And I don't even have it yet....but it's a "knowing".

  8. I like lots of windows to let the light in too. It looks so nice and newly updated. I love the beadboard in the bathroom and that tub. I'm keeping you in my prayers sweet friend. I know you are READY!!! Hugs, Diane
