YOP Week #10

I have a new banner and thank you to whoever created it over on Ravelry.  I love it!  Fall is in full swing around here and I think the last of the "hot and humid" left early Saturday morning when the cold front moved in with a brief rain shower.  I doubt we will see any more of Summer this year...bye-bye!  I am so energized with Fall and Winter coming and I have been clearing out, cleaning and organizing.  My middle bedroom used to be my office but now it is going to be my crafts room. I have been diligently organizing my books, patterns and gathering all my creative materials from around the house.
I cleaned the windows good inside and out.  I like these Pella windows as I can clean both sides from inside the house and the storms are held in with clips so although I don't always take them off and wash in-between, I did this time.  They were really dirty.
I got my father's old desk moved under the window and polished it up good and placed my little cutting board on it.
Now I have a place to start cutting the binding for that quilt I
was trying to finish up.  I have yet to tackle the drawers......
I also cleared out the bookcase in there that was full of "office" type books and polished it up and started gathering my quilting, needlework, rug hooking, crocheting and knitting books and patterns to put on it.  I hope they all fit! LOL!
I'd love to paint the walls and the furniture and pull up the carpet but for now I just need clean and neat and functionable.
Needless to say, I have not gotten much done on YOP projects but never fear!  I have plans and projects in the works!  With the Fall approaching I am already panicking about Christmas and everything I see I want to make but taxes are due this month so no yarn ordering.  Plus, I can't open any files since I went to Windows 10 (don't do it!) so I have to get that fixed as that is where I have my patterns and recipes. So as soon as I can get that fixed I really need to finalize my YOP list and start being accountable.
I was up before the sun this morning...............
so my photos may not be the best using lamp light.........I've been slowly joining my squares together for the Dottie Angel blanket/throw and the invisible join is just that....invisible...LOVE!
I still can't tell right side from wrong side but I guess if I can't tell it must not matter much.
I'm using this old book of mine......
to make this scrap blanket...........12 knitted squares, 15 crocheted and 15 felted wool for a total of 42 blocks.  Each square is different and I decided to do it to use up some of my old acrylic yarn.  I am doing the knitted squares first and I am on square #3.  I posted about this in my last post too if you want to check back on it.
These are my squares so far.....
I am enjoying it and it is a great way to learn different stitches like the diamond pattern above.
I told you there was new projects in the works.............this is on my Fall board on Pinterest and is a free pattern.  Unfortunately, the yarn used is no longer made but I was able to nab the 2 skeins of the variegated on Ebay and the rest I will need to find replacements for.
This is my Fall "me" project.
Here are the 2 skeins of TLC which used to be made by Red Heart.
Didn't I just say I was trying to use up my acrylic yarn????  I do love the colors though.
I hope you had a good week and that you have high hopes for the week ahead!
Happy Trails!
P.S.  I made snicker doodles Friday night.......they were on my Fall bucket list! LOL!  I used this recipe

  1. You have many projects in the works! A room sounds great to me, I have a great desk for scrapbooking but the rest of my stuff is all over the house. I would love to have a craft room...upstairs maybe but nothing seems just right about that! A screened in four season porch sounds good...but I don't have one! Your cookies look great! :)

    1. I think your upstairs would be great for a craft area....where does Far Guy have his trains? You need your own space! You could have my porch but you'd have to clean it out first! LOL!

  3. Getting a room organized is hard work! If you get the carpet pulled up and the walls painted then you're ahead of me. Typically as soon a room's functional all my other ideas shift off the front burner, right past the back burner into maybe-someday-when-I-have-nothing-to-do-land.

Gorgeous fall afghan pattern, and very smart of you to nab that variegated yarn off eBay - that would be hard to find a substitute for!

    1. You are so right on! The carpet and the painting will only happen when the entire house is clean and that has yet to happen...probably not in my lifetime! LOL!
Great minds thing alike....I can match up the other colors but the variegated....not so much so I was happy I got it too.

    1. Sometime in the last 4 years I became a knitter! I'm amazed at how much I've learned although I know there is more but I really enjoy those different squares.

  5. Oh my! You make me tired just reading this post. It must be exciting organizing all of your crafty "stuff" all together. I always like doing that too. Your blanket project looks like it's coming along really well. You can't see the join at all. Great work!!! I like that retro afghan too. Pretty stitiches.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. Lucky you. I don't think fall is around the bend yet for us. But how cool to have your own crafting room/office where everything can be spread and easily accessible for some good ol' crafting.

    1. It's still sort of warm but not humid and not 90's or anywhere close. What I really love is when the the rains come and the winds blow and it's candle and fireplace weather....we're not quite there yet! But it's coming....I must be patient. LOL!

  7. Oh, your post makes me want to get busy and get ready for the cold weather a comin'. And now I want to clean my windows! We have Pella windows upstairs (look just like yours), but I didn't think I could clean the outside of them (from the inside). Going to check on that this week. And wash the screens. Oh my, they do get dusty being on the inside.

    1. Becki, if they crank out all the way you can wash both sides. I did take the screens off and I need to wash them outside. In the winter I take the screens off....so much clearer to see and of course, admire my clean windows! LOL! I've labeled all my screens with permanent marker for which rooms and which direction. Sometimes I just store them in the basement and wash them in the Spring.

    1. They say if you wait long enough everything comes back in style and I am loving my "old" craft books...so glad I held on to them!

  9. Dang it! I wish I had your energy to get things cleaned and organized and cleared out around here. I've done none of that yet. All your projects are looking and sounding great. Have a good week.

  10. Trust me....be patient with yourself. It has taken me a long time to get healthy both spiritually and physically and there was a long time when I was practically a "hoarder". I don't show you everything! LOL! And I take a lot of "breaks". Ha! Ha!

  11. Lot's of progress! I have had my eyes on that fall blanket for a while, so I will be watching your progress to see how it works out.

  12. My goodness, you've been busy! Sometimes the tidying and organising can be a lot of fun, can't it? I'm looking forward to seeing more of your new craft space as it develops.

Lovely blanket ideas. I really like the one with the many different types of square, it's a fantastic idea for a stash buster.
