Yop Week #45

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!  I hope you are enjoying the day and staying safe.  A storm is just moving in so I hope I get this published before I lose it or the power or both!
Much time has been spent outside this week in between the rain drops but I did finish sock #1 of my Springtime sock yarn.
I need to order some Soak detergent and some sock blockers.  It's still magic to me!
I worked a bit on the Bee Blanket simply because I wanted to knit but not another sock right away.  I'm on row 28 of 368 and I just started the "bee cables" and I hope I am interpreting her instructions properly but just to be on the "safe" side I put in a life line and there may be more then one put in before I finish this blanket! LOL!
I put the lifeline in after I took this picture and the wooden needle is my cable needle.
I received these beautiful flowers for Mother's Day............they haven't all opened yet either....
This one lily is over 5 inches cross!
There's lots going on outside too.....take a look...........
HERBS.........and more than just one............
Some unidentified plants that I have no idea what they are but I'm hoping they are vines.  If anyone knows please tell me!
I re-potted the clematis into pots on each side of the garage to grow up and around the garage lights hopefully.

The roses are blooming in profusion and they go all over but have no scent.  I want the "smelly" kind! LOL!
The Japanese (non-bearded) Iris are blooming and I love their deep purple/blue color.
I have my old horse trough planted with patio, grape and cherry tomatoes and several banana pepper plants
I found these wild strawberries across the street on the edge of the woods........I'll be keeping an eye on them!
Happy Trails!

  1. I am so envious of how far along your garden is! Look how lovely the roses and irises are!!! Your clematis are also gorgeous. Mine still looks like dead wood but I'm starting to see some signs of new growth!

The light green one on the left looks like a sweet potato vine. The variegated one on the right looks like ivy - maybe Swedish ivy? But those are just guesses!

    1. Spring will be there before you know it! I was hoping they were vines but when I went to buy them no one at the store knew what they were so I took my chances! LOL!

  3. I agree with Minding...Sweet Potato Vine and some kind of Ivy that looks a bit sunburned! I hope your Clematis does okay in pots...they like cool roots and warm tops to do their best! Your sock is amazing..love the pattern:) I am making slow progress on the join as you go:)

  5. Pretty garden. Ours is just beginning to come along. Planting just began this past weekend as Mother's day is typically considered the "safe" time to plant. I never bother with sock blockers. I've made dozens of socks and the feet they go on block them just fine! :-) Lovely job on them and the blanket.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. When I lived up North, Mother's Day was when we got the flowers to hang on the porch and plant in the boxes and Memorial Day weekend was when we put in the garden. I hope you had a great Mother's Day!

  6. Happy Mother's Day, Sam. It looks some children remembered the day, judging by the lovely card and flowers. I can almost smell those lilies!
I just have say how fantastic your sock turned out-it is like magic. I can hardly wait to start my sock using the Arne and Carlos Regia which will knit up the same way...magically!
Have a wonderful week.....and stay safe in those storms.

    1. I can't wait to see what you buy with your gift cards and also what your socks look like. Yes, the Arne and Carlos yarn is the same type and I looked and I can see I'll be ordering some of theirs....neat colors!
The storms came through and all is well. I think we're going to have like 4 days straight without rain but now I have a hayfield to mow too! But I'm not complaining.....at least I still have a house. So sad for so many in the path of those storms. I hope you have a great week too!

    1. You need to try some of that yarn...it really makes sock knitting interesting to see how it's going to "pattern up". It's fun!

  8. I really like the look of that sock! Well done, you're halfway there!Love the garden/plant/floral pics! I loose the 'race' to the ripe wild strawberries every year (I've heard they make far superior jam/preserves). I think the wild life team up against me on that one LOL

    1. You are so right! I've known about those wild strawberries for several years now but I never get any! The "wildlife" team up against me also! I finally planted my own.

Love all the plants... they look great!
I especially love that old trough. I had one at the homestead, and I'm missing having it here at Mill Hill Meadow .
